Paintless Dent Repair FAQ
Will the dent come back if repaired with PDR?
No. Dents repaired with paintless dent repair will not return. PDR is more of a restoration than a conventional repair. The dent is gently massaged away from the underside of the panel. Since the paint is not disturbed during the process, there is no paint matching, touch-up, or repainting of any kind.
What damage CAN NOT be repaired with PDR?
As the technique is “paintless,” a true PDR can only be utilized if there is no paint damage. This includes paint chipping, cracking, bubbling, or metal stretching. Paintless dent repair CAN be used to remove the dent but would not be considered “paintless.”
Good rule of thumb when PDR is not an option:
- Has sharp edges or torn metal
- Has paint that is scratched or chipped
- Is located near the edge of a panel
- Is located in an area where previous bodywork has been performed
How much does paintless dent repair cost?
It really depends on how the damage occurred. If the damage was the result of a hail storm, the cost to repair the auto hail damage is covered under your insurance policy if you have full coverage. If it is a door ding or a few random dents caused by regular wear & tear, the cost to repair depends on the size and location of the dent. The typical range for ‘out-of-pocket’ paintless dent repair is anywhere from $50-$125 per dent. We suggest starting with a quick estimate.

PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR
What is PDR & how does it work?
Paintless dent repair, also called paintless dent removal (PDR) is an alternative method of repairing dents and dings to a car’s body. Paintless dent repair can restore a vehicle’s body to factory-like condition in less time and at a lower cost than conventional auto body shop repair methods.
The process is called “paintless” dent repair because it preserves the original paint job and does not require any re-painting of the fixed dent.
